The overwhelming vote was in favour of the new format, and we would appreciate your feedback over the next few "issues" as to how this new format is working. Developing the new newsletter purely as a Web based document has allowed us more flexibility than the print/web compromise we were working with previously. You are still welcome to print out articles that interest you, but you will find (we hope!) more and more active links and interactivity on the newsletter pages.

Some respondents expressed an interest in having the newsletters emailed out. While notification of a new newsletter should be included with your account, the Web format allows us more latitude to include active links, interactivity and easy to complete response forms. It also allows casual visitors from other services, cities and countries to access regional material. We are frequently contacted by ex-residents grateful for news from the "old town". As our charter is to keep our subscribers AND the people of this region informed of relevant internet news and events a closed subscriber only mailing list was not considered appropriate.

Please let us know if you have any problems with the new layout, or any suggestions to make it work better.

Contributions:
Some survey respondents indicated they would like to contribute articles if they "had something relevant". Well, start tickling those keyboards. From the next issue on we hope to be able to bring you at least one subscriber contributed article. There is a contribute link on every page (a graphic link, up the top, under email the editor) with a simple input form for small snippets, and details of how to submit your material for larger documents and/or accompanying pictures.

One subscriber indicated he or she would like to write an article on video conferencing, but didn't leave any contact details. The survey was deliberately anonymous, so unless you added your name or email address, we have no way of knowing who you were! A Video-Conferencing article sounds GREAT! So would that subscriber like to get back in touch so we can organise something for the July issue?

I'd also like to start a Subscriber's Questions Answered section. So if anyone has a question they would like answered to get the ball rolling, type it in below. NOTE: this form is also deliberately anonymous, so if you want your name published you'd better let us know who you are and include your name and email address with your question. This is purely optional and we will be emailing you to confirm it really was you, and you really want it published!

Bi-monthly or Quarterly?
The majority vote indicated you would prefer bi-monthly as normal. We will endeavour to return to that format, and with your help and the enormous changes occuring in the computer industry at the moment we should be able to achieve that.

Cheers and thank you!
