1    MURRAY VALLEY

Commenced 1866, Closed 1869. Shaft 283 feet.

2    GOLDEN GATE

Commenced 1889,Closed 1902. Shaft 251 feet.

3    GREAT SOUTHERN No1

Commenced 1894. Electric plant installed in 1899 to light and haul. Shaft 408 feet.

4    SOUTHERN & PRENTICE UNITED

Commenced 1895. Shaft 420 feet.

                                                                                      

5    NORTH PRENTICE

Commenced 1894, Closed 1909.

6    GREAT NORTHERN EXTENDED

Commenced 1888,Closed 1910. Shaft 290 feet.

7    PRENTICE FREEHOLD

Commenced 1891, Closed 1898.

8    GREAT NORTHERN EXTENDED CONSOLS

Commenced in 1893,Closed 1910. Yeild 8,890 ounces of gold. The eight horses used for underground haulage were sold in 1910.

9    GREAT SOUTHERN

Commenced 1892, Closed 1914. Shaft 440 feet. Water pumped for 8 years before work commenced. Cyanide gold extraction was used on tailings from 1937.

10    GREAT SOUTHERN CONSOLS

Commenced 1895, Closed 1911. Shaft 400 feet.

11    LILLYPUT

Commenced 1862, Closed 1965.

12    THE ROSE OF SHARON GOLD MINE & MUSEUM

The Rose of Sharon Gold Mine is open for tours every day and has a museum and exhibits of mining methods and machinery.
