Above is a photo of the Fosters Lake Picnic Area, which is located just north of the town centre. It was named after the stationmaster at Glenrowan, who had the lake built to water the transported cattle. The area has picnic tables located around the lake, with a sheltered barbeque area shown above, and toilet facilities. There is plenty of parking for cars or buses. Above you can see Foster's Lake, with plenty of water birds. The blowup of the photo on the right shows there are Mallards, Grey Teal, Wood Ducks, whilst on the banks were some Intermediate Egret, and some Australasian Grebe.
Above is a photo from the Railway Station car park, showing " three people" on the station platform, and the view across the railway line and over Lions Park. The Glenrowan Hotel is in the distance, whilst the Motel is dwarfed by the large gum tree to its left, and the hill behind. The Lions Park has plenty of picnic tables and chairs, barbeque facilities, children's playgrounds and excellent toilets.
The Glenrowan Railway Station is in approximately the same location as in 1880. The railway line is the main Melbourne to Sydney line, so the XPT thunders through here four times a day, and the VLine from Melbourne to Albury passes here about 8 times a day. On top of this are the various freight trains travelling both ways.
On the station there are these three people, who seem to be waiting for a train. They have been waiting since 1880, as these people are symbolic of the hostages the Kelly Gang held on the infamous night. When you are in Glenrowan drop in and say Hello to them.
