THE ALBURY WODONGA AWARD WINNING TOURISM ATTRACTION WAGNER'S STORE German settlors arrived by wagon in Jindera in 1867. In 1874 Messrs Rosler and Wagner started a store in the building on the right below. The larger store on the left was built in 1906.
The store was a general store which meant that it sold virtually everything. As you can see from the photo above, the store is crammed packed with thousands of items, far too many to list. All these items are from the 1860's until the very early 19th Century. As you can see above the shop has hundreds of shelves all jammed packed with biscuits, baking powder, starch, sugar and hundreds of grocery items. Here is an interesting item. In 1940 a pallet of Swallows Ariel Biscuits was wrongly delivered to the store. For some reason it was never picked up. It still sits there, unopened - 12 boxes of biscuits. Ask about it, you may want one with a cup of tea?? The shop also stocks cameras, shaving equipment, cigarettes and pipes, and lamps for lighting as above. Here you can spend hours reliving the past. YOUR TOURISM STAY IN ALBURY WODONGA IS NOT COMPLETE UNTIL YOU HAVE VISITED OUR AWARD WINNING TOURIST ATTRACTION
