2 THE MELBA HIGHWAY From Lilydale you follow the Melba Highway to the left of Dame Nelly Melba's Home at Coldstream, to Yarra Glen, past Kinglake, through Yea, turning right to Molesworth and Yark Bonnie Doon and Mansfield. After passing Bonnie Doon, you will come across a tiny town called Maindample. Just past here you may proceed directly to Mansfield, Merrijig and Mt Buller, or you may turn left to Swanpool and Benalla. At Benalla you will join the Hume Highway and proceed as per the information above.
3 THE MAROONDAH HIGHWAY This Highway has by far the most spectacular scenery of all. It is one of the most scenic drives in Victoria. Again commencing at Lilydale, head to Coldstream, but stay on the Highway and head to Healesville Passing Healesville and the Maroondah Dam you head into the Black Spur, a drive over the Australian Alps, where the tall trees and fresh air take you into another world. Crossing the spur you arrive at Narbethong where you may turn right to Marysville and Lake Mountain. Staying on the Highway you emerge from the rain forest into Buxton and Taggerty, where you may turn right to go to Thornton and Eildon. From Eildon to Alexandra there is the Skyline Road, a most spectacular scenic road, where at some locations you have views of 360 degrees. This road is well worth a drive. Staying on the Highway at Taggerty, it is a short run to Alexandra with some spectacular valley views, and then on to Yark where you meet the Melba or Midland Highway, and proceed to Bonnie Doon, Maindample and then Benalla or Mansfield. Here the information is as per above.
The Adventure Road Mansfield to Oxley For those people who love the thrill of the drive, exploring different places and seeing the countryside, then the road from Mansfield to Wangaratta is for you. From Mansfield, head to Whitlands passing Bridge Creek and Tolmie. On top of the mountain range clearly marked is the Bushranger Harry Power's Lookout. It is only about 3 Km off the road, easily reached by car. The lookout is only about 200 metres from the car park. This lookout has to rank with the best, and is similar to photo's seen of the Grampians. After seeing the lookout head towards Whitlands and Whitfield, and into the King Valley. Follow the King Valley to Oxley, where you may turn right and head to Milawa,Beechworth and Myrtleford, or continue straight to Wangaratta.
